DEDICATION PRAYER FOR CATECHISTS
O MY JESUS, true God and true man, King of kings, Lord of lords, Teacher of teachers,
and Catechist of catechists, You declared, “He who believes in me will also do the works that I do;
and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father” (John 14:12).
You have called me to be a Catechist, to do the work of teaching the faith to others, the faith which you died to bring to the earth. Can there be a greater calling! Indeed, You also said whoever does Your commandments “and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven” (Matt. 5:19).
I recognize that I am wholly unworthy to serve You and Your Church, to take on this task to which You have called me. And yet, You have called me to do this for You nonetheless.
Help me to remember always that while this task of teaching the faith may be difficult that nothing is impossible with You; and that You earned for me on the Cross the grace to enable me to complete this task. Help me to trust in You in all things, and in this work of teaching the faith to others most of all.
My Jesus, I promise to always teach the Catholic faith with obedience to the Magisterium of Your Church.
I promise never to share opinions with my students that are contrary to the Holy Catholic faith, which you died to bring to the earth. I promise only to teach what Your Church teaches, because these are Your teachings, and so truly good and life-giving in every way.
In Your presence now, I wholly dedicate myself to this task of teaching. I promise to be faithful to this work. With your divine assistance, to sufficiently plan each week’s lesson, to make teaching each week a priority in my life and to teach each lesson with fidelity and enthusiasm in Your Name.
O Jesus, I (Name), Your humble servant, surrender all things, and place this matter of my teaching the faith this year in your loving and strong hands. My Jesus, I trust in You in this and in all things. And it is in Your Name, and through Your Mother’s Immaculate Heart, that I now seal this prayer. Amen.
